Bob, Righties don’t do math, basic or otherwise. That’s why they’re so easy to lie to about the debt, the deficit (well, all economics), science and most of the modern world.

Chez, I’m sure there are good people working at FNC. However, because they are working at FNC they give cover to the propagandists. I’m not suggesting that they should resign en masse in protest—that would just feed Roger Ailes’s sense of victimhood and give the channel yet another excuse to witter on about evil liberals—but they shouldn’t mistake what their purpose is at Fox.

Clearly, nobody comparing the US to Greece has any idea what’s causing the fiscal problems in either country. Anyone doing so should be mocked unmercifully and never taken seriously again; unsurprisingly, there have been lot of letters published in my local fishwrap that make the comparison.

The stimulus should have been much larger and included far more direct support to the poor, but Rs and conservadems would have soiled themselves. Alas, what we got was the best that could have been gotten.

Conservative Christian homophobia is roughly as surprising as the sunrise. I’d be shocked if that sort of bigotry and stupidity didn’t happen on a regular basis.

I’m not so sure homophobes are afraid of being turned gay. I think it’s more that they feel vulnerable around gays (That guy’s checking me out!), which is ironic since homophobes generally have low regard for women, who have to put up with unwanted sexual attention every day.

You guys give me an excuse to link (again) to The Choicer Challenge from the incomparable Dan Savage (scroll down to the last item in the column). And in searching for the correct link, I came across this: one of Savage’s readers actually made the challenge, in person, to a follower of none other than Bradlee Dean. Priceless.

    • Great comments! It wouldn’t be a show without your reactions, alopecia.

Bob, loved the “Black guy becomes President, everyone loses their s**t” comment.

        …and sadly, it is true.

Indeed! I’ve asked some super-vocal homophobes about their hate in the past. I listen to their BS excuses then ask if they’re afraid gay guys are thinking of them they way they think of women. This almost always resulted in some combination of them (a) calling me a “fag”, (b) telling me to fuck off, and (c) calling me an asshole; so they pretty much answered yes.

Those links you gave us were brilliant. Dan Savage is a freakin’ genius.
