The Holy Vote

In other news, Jeb! Bush is very sorry for being such a failure and wasting all his donors' money.

Meanwhile, senator and GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz is personally blocking an aid package for the city of Flint, Michigan.

And finally, some members of British Parliament have apparently told the Washington Racial Slurs football team that they aren't welcome in London.

“We were shocked to learn the derivation of the term ‘R*dskin,’ pertaining as it does to the historic abuse of Native Americans,” Ruth Smeeth and Ian Austin wrote in a letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, a copy of which was obtained by ESPN. “The exportation of this racial slur to the UK this autumn, when the Washington team is due to play, directly contravenes the values that many in Britain have worked so hard to instill.”

I’ll never cease to marvel at the intransigence of people who (by-and-large) aren’t racist to defend racist “traditions.”

I was just having a conversation last night with friends about people who don’t consider themselves racist saying racist things quite frequently. I think most people equate racism with wearing a white hood and cross burning and fail to understand that that is not the kind of racism that is prevalent today. Instead, we have a (mostly) more subtle racism now. They CAN’T be racist because they don’t do those KKK-type things. They just feel uncomfortable around “those people” because they tend to be more violent and get arrested more often. Perfectly reasonable and not at all racist, right? Wrong.
