Election 2016

The Scott Walker Campaign is Falling Apart, Continued

While Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's campaign falls behind on its bills as fundraising dries up, according to reports Walker's donors are doing more than merely pressuring his campaign to shake things up and take a new direction.

Walker's donors are reportedly spreading rumors about his campaign manager Rick Wiley.

A number of Walker’s donors and supporters have been circulating a rumor about Wiley in recent days, apparently aimed at discrediting him and bringing about a shakeup in the organization, according to two Republican sources. The sources, neither of whom is affiliated with a presidential campaign, said they heard the rumor from people in Walker’s camp. They also said an anonymous letter about Wiley is circulating in political and donor circles, though it is unclear where it originated.

This report may or may not be overblown, but something is clearly amiss on Team Walker.

I imagine a campaign would have to be exceedingly calm and disciplined to not fall apart when the candidate drops from being the frontrunner to almost near the bottom of the pack.

With reports that Walker is placing all of his rotten eggs in the Iowa basket, I'm increasingly skeptical that he can recover. I don't believe Walker is crazy enough or Jesus-y enough to win Iowa. Vowing to bust unions just doesn't excite anyone in the age of Trump and calling on the president to cut ties with China must look silly to anyone with two brain cells.
