The Trump Regime Files a WTO Complaint Against Countries Fighting Back

Written by SK Ashby

Over 40 countries have filed complaints against the United States at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in response to Trump's unilateral trade war, but now the Trump regime has filed one of their own.

Trump's unhinged trade representative Robert Lighthizer has filed a complaint against multiple countries that have retaliated in response to Trump's tariffs.

“The actions taken by the President are wholly legitimate and fully justified as a matter of U.S. law and international trade rules. Instead of working with us to address a common problem, some of our trading partners have elected to respond with retaliatory tariffs designed to punish American workers, farmers and companies,” U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said in an emailed statement.

All of Trump's tariffs have been imposed on the grounds of protecting national security, but the regime has not spelled out exactly how milk, lumber, or metal imported from our closest trading partners in the world harms our national security.

It is accurate to say retaliatory tariffs are designed to inflict harm, but we've done the same thing to them and we did it first, hence the term "retaliatory." Lighthizer spells out the nature of their response in his own statement.

We hit them. They hit us back.
