The Vapors

In other news, Trump is lying again. He claims he wanted to delay his Muslim ban, but he was overruled by "law enforcement people." Is he the president or not?

There's no evidence support this claim. DHS secretary John Kelly didn't know the order was being signed until he saw it on TV. It's possible he's referring to the unhinged sheriff David Clarke, which is another level of insanity.

Meanwhile, Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz doesn't care about the president attacking private companies for not enriching his family. I know you're shocked.

Finally, TJ Maxx and Marshalls are following Nordstrom in dumping the Trumps. Also, Nordstrom's stock has surged after Trump attacked them.

  • Shouldn’t the (inconsistently applied) rule about not “bad-mouthing” a Senator not count if you’re considering a Senator for a position requiring advise and consent? Sheesh.

    • Christopher Foxx

Of course it shouldn’t. (Hell, the rule shouldn’t exist at all.) But try explaining that to the Republicans, hypocritical little snowflakes that they are.

I would love it if these stores just came out and said, “Yeah, we are dumping you kid because of your politics. So what?!?” I know they can’t because it would be bad business but it’s not like they don’t have that right.

“She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”

On the contrary, it could be very good for business. As Ashby noted: “Nordstrom’s stock has surged after Trump attacked them.”

True. It reminds me that there is there is money to be made by explicitly appealing to liberal sensibilities. I know a company like Nordstroms would never do that but it’s a reminder that companies have to take pains to not infuriate Democratic customers and that companies have held firm on their opposition to the bathroom bills.

I’m hoping more companies take notice and show some backbone.

Nice to see the free markets at work!
I’ll be giving TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Nordstrom my shopping priority.
