It was a carefully modulated statement, and Obama—relying on a familiar crutch—read it off a flat-screen monitor perched at the back of the East Room.
So. WHAT!
Seriously, what's the difference if he reads his opening remarks from a screen or from pages? There is no difference other than to falsely imply that he used a prompter for his answers, as Scarborough implied this morning. All presidents read their opening remarks. All of them.
Everyone from presidents to television people to political candidates use teleprompters. It's not some weird new invention, nor is it a crutch. This is like Fournier making a big deal out of a baseball player relying on, you know, his bat. What's the next attack from the far-fight? That dirty lib Barry O uses one of them four-wheeled gasohol machines instead of a God-given horse like ol' Tippicanoe!
Not surprisingly, most of the news outlets carrying this Fournier hackery are WSJ, Newsmax, Drudge and Breitbart. FOX News is also making a big deal about this -- a report, by the way, that was recited from a teleprompter.
