This is Really Creepy

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett reiterated his support for his party's new abortion ultrasound law today during a press conference wherein he said something infinitely creepy.

CORBETT: I’m not making anybody watch, OK. Because you just have to close your eyes. As long as it’s on the exterior and not the interior.

Just close your eyes. It will all be over soon.

Here's my question: setting aside the creep factor for a moment -- what's the point of the law if viewing the ultrasound is optional? Doesn't that subtract from the intimidation factor and simply add to the cost of providing care?

What's more important, reducing wasteful spending or abortion shaming?

Yes, that's rhetorical.

They may as well include the Scarlet A tattoo for the offending woman’s neck for all to see.

  • (I wrote this comment over at Chez’s place too, I don’t think people realize what Corbett did during the Sandusky grand jury.)

    Close your eyes?

You mean like you did Governor? You remember when you were Attorney General?

A grand jury had been convened to investigate Jerry Sandusky, and other investigations of that type were wrapped up in about a year, but this one took 3 years. Because you needed the Penn State fucks to vote for you, so you didn’t want the indictments out until you were elected.

You’re a fucking despicable, corrupt enabler of child rape. I’m pretty sure Ol’ Jerry said the same thing.

Close your eyes indeed you miserable fucker.

How about we come up with a law that says male governors have to be kicked in the groin once per week by an ex-wrestler security guard.  Yeah, it’s unnecessary, but so is the ultrasound.  Don’t like being kicked in the gonads?  Just don’t look while it’s being done.

    Sounds about right to me.

America is really, really paying for staying home in 2010.

Why doesn’t any “journalist” in the position to do so ask one of these asshats why the intra-vaginal probe is necessary? Could it be that the zygote is so small it can’t be seen via external ultrasound? Oh wait, that wouldn’t fit in with the narrative of baby-killing and showing pictures from ultrasounds of late, last-trimester fetuses and acting like that’s when most abortions take place.

  • Since women will be forced to have these ultrasounds and the good doctors don’t seem to have the balls to tell the legislators to stay the f*ck out of the medical business, I suggest that every woman pee all over the doctor doing the exam. If possible, force yourself to puke all over them too. Just blame it on the pregnancy.

Complimentary blind fold and earplugs with every forced ultrasound. Corbett also signed the voter ID law into effect today. PA has now joined the republic of wingnutistan. I expect his poll numbers to crash very soon, generally PA is a pale blue state.

  • Gee, thanks, I didn’t want to watch while the doctor shoves a large object inside me. Oh, wait, I’m not a woman and neither is he — maybe we shouldn’t be speaking for them?

They’re already dropping. Between this and his giving away state lands for fracking may lead him to achieve the impossible: Become the first PA governor to fail to win re-election.

  • I swear the day will come when they’ll try to force women to name the baby before they can have an abortion.

    • Yep…

It’s time to write plays and movies surrounding these wingnutters. I can’t believe that these guys are for real in 21st century…..and women will abide by this?? Really?!

No Hollywood studio would find any of these whackaloons believable characters.
