Trump Officially Secures the GOP Nomination

We've known Donald Trump would be the Republican presidential nominee since long before Ted Cruz or John Kasich dropped out of the race, but now it's official.

Trump has now surpassed the 1,237 delegate threshold to secure the GOP nomination.

From the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination for president Thursday, completing an unlikely rise that has upended the political landscape and set the stage for a bitter fall campaign.

Trump was put over the top in the Associated Press delegate count by a small number of the party's unbound delegates who told the AP they would support him at the national convention in July. Among them is Oklahoma GOP chairwoman Pam Pollard.

The Republican party is officially Trump's party.

It's possible this may not be rock bottom. Lord only knows who the party will nominate in 2020.

If Donald Trump doesn’t win in November, the GOP will nominate a True Conservative, not like those namby-pamby RINO bastards *scary music sting* party insiders nominated in 2008, 2012 and 2016. Because, as we all know, conservatism can never fail..

Ted Cruz will struggle to move far enough Right to satisfy Republican primary voters in 2020.

  • For some reason “The End” by the Doors keeps floating through my mind

I’m thinking about the lyrics at the end of “Touch Me”.

Hopefully they’ll have to actually nominate someone.

    • No hopefully they won’t exist at all. 🙂
