Trump Outreach Coordinator: If You Don’t Like Trump You’re Probably Illegal, So Who Cares?

Written by SK Ashby

Michael Cohen is one of Donald Trump's lawyers and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, but he's also reportedly organizing Trump's efforts to reach out to minority communities.

The Trump campaign has apparently decided it needs to attract at least some minority voters to win if this report is to believed, and to that end Cohen has arranged meetings with faith leaders from African Americans communities.

Team Trump is not reaching out to the Hispanic community, however, because in Cohen's words there's no use in reaching out to people who "aren't even here legally."

COHEN: “The truth, yeah, I’m trying to coordinate it because I am mindful of the fact that, you know, there are coalitions and I’m talking about now like Hispanic coalitions that … will not support Trump. And that’s OK because the ones that don’t like Trump aren’t even here legally and they can’t vote, so it doesn’t really matter, right? And I understand their point of view. They’re — they do not want to be asked to leave right? And go back where? Go back to their homes? You know they don’t want to. So I understand.”

To the best of my knowledge, undocumented immigrants are not regularly included in polls that measure the electorate. He's right that undocumented immigrants can't vote and probably wouldn't vote for Trump even if they could but, if words have meaning, a poll of Latino voters will convey the opinion of legal citizens who also don't like Trump.

One might get the impression that the brain trust behind Donald Trump has no fucking idea what they're saying half the time.
