Trump Says the Obama Admin is Letting Immigrants In to Vote

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will believe anything you say as long as there's a racist veneer to it.

Trump met with members of a Border Control labor union this morning where the group's vice president told Trump that federal authorities are allowing immigrants to remain in the country so they can vote in the election.

Some of these individuals that [we’ve] apprehended with criminal records,” he told Trump. “They’re setting them aside because at this point they are saying immigration is so tied up with trying to get the people who are on the waiting list to hurry up and get them their immigration status corrected.

When Trump asked why, Del Cueto said, “So they can go ahead and vote before the election.”

Trump initially motioned to the reporters in the room and said, “Big statement, fellas.” Then he said, “That’s huge. But they’re letting people pour into the country so they can go and vote. … And these are the professionals. You hear a thing like that, and it’s a disgrace. Well, it will be a lot different if I get elected.”

It needs to be said why Del Cueto's claims are so ridiculous.

We all know immigration is down and that there are more agents patrolling the border today than ever before, but Cueto's claim that immigrants with criminal records are not being deported as quickly as they should be can be attributed to opponents of immigration like Trump and Cueto.

President Obama created a deferred action program through executive order to prioritize the deportation of criminals over innocent families but, as you know, Republicans sued the administration to block the program and they won at the Supreme Court. If there are more criminals on the street today (a claim that hasn't been substantiated) it's their own fault.

As for the idea that immigrants are getting their "immigration status corrected" to vote, Cueto and Trump are seemingly unaware that simply being a legal, documented immigrant does not give you a right to vote. The naturalization process is a very long process and for those legally entering the country today, it will be many years before they become citizens and can vote in our elections.
