Election 2016

Trump’s Newest Manager Gave Us Unlimited Money in Politics

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has hired his fourth campaign manager and this hire would be more amusing if it weren't so insidious.

Trump has hired David Bossie to serve as his deputy campaign manager, a man you may recognize as the chief of Citizens United.

"A friend of mine for many years," Trump said, speaking from his office in New York. "Solid. Smart. Loves politics, knows how to win."

Bossie participated Thursday in strategy sessions at Trump Tower where he was introduced to campaign aides and Trump associates, according to Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway.

To really appreciate the absurdity of this hire and this entire election cycle you have to understand Citizens United.

During the Democratic primary campaign, both Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump accused Hillary Clinton of selling out to Wall Street and big money interests. Bernie Sanders, his supporters, and many gullible stenographers in the media would like you to believe that Bernie's candidacy forced Hillary Clinton to oppose unlimited money in politics, and yet it was Hillary Clinton who fought Citizens United in court.

We have unlimited money in politics today because the Supreme Court ruled against the FEC and Hillary Clinton who sought to stop Citizens United, a registered non-profit, from spending money on independent political campaigns.

And where are we at today?

Donald Trump has hired the president and chairman of Citizens United, and Bernie Sanders just recently formed a non-profit that will spend money on political campaigns. Bernie's "Our Revolution" will not be required to disclose its donors.

Hillary Clinton is surrounded on all sides by hypocrites and charlatans.
