Trumps Pulls Pre-Paid Obamacare Ads

Written by JM Ashby

With just a few days left in the open enrollment period, the Trump Regime has pulled advertisements for Obamacare that inform people that the deadline is approaching.

Individuals may still sign up for Obamacare plans until the Jan. 31 deadline — but the Trump administration isn't advertising that fact any longer. [...]

Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA, a consumer group that supports the law, called the decision "a mean-spirited effort that can only result in fewer people getting coverage who need it."

To be clear, it's not as if this will save taxpayers money. These advertisements have already been paid for. The money spent to advertise open enrollment during the next few days will simply vanish into the void.

Officially, the Trump Regime has pulled the advertisements in an "effort to look for efficiencies," or whateverthefuck that means. That's not even good bullshit. That's bad bullshit.

IF you personally know someone who needs coverage, you might want to remind them yourself.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t recall any previous administration deliberately sabotaging an existing program this way. Underfunding, neglecting, pushing for repeal, yes, but not this.

It would be nice if a single R would plumb the empty black space that once housed his/her soul, realize this is going to cause harm and speak out against it. It would also be nice if I could flap my arms and fly.

Pure malice. He wants to hurt people before he’s even had a chance to eliminate a law without which people will be hurt. This is actually evil, not just stupidity and incompetence that we’ve come to expect from him.

It seems that a great deal of Trump’s current policies are simply Fuck You’s to the Democrats (and Obama specifically).

He can say his goal is to be fiscally responsible all he wants, but it’s not. He’s just giving us the middle finger and throwing out red meat to his base.

    • And we knew this would be how he would behave way back on the campaign trail. The few ideas he did propose were all red meat with no substance…like a layer of steak wrapped around sawdust. If he truly wanted to govern he would have taken the time to find out what the actual issues are and would have proposed plans to deal with them. He and the GOP are all about grandstanding and revenge.

Barack Obama should just make a brief video explaining this and blast it out on YouTube along with the original commercial which can still be easily found on YouTube.

ADDED BONUS: It’ll drive Cheese Doodle Bonaparte nuts.

He should. He really should. And if Democrats had any sense of strategy or backbone to actually engage in some, they’d be pushing him to do it.

I get that previous presidents stand aside and don’t interfere with the new administration. The corollary to the “peaceful transition of power” that we were all hearing so much about last week. But Obama is vastly more popular and respected than Trump and if he were to, in his usual calm, rational, steady way, put out such a video it would go a long way toward not just helping get the word out about deadlines, but also be another quiet contrast that would get more folks regretting what we have in Trump.

I’m doubting they have the sense or the spine to do anything like that. To quote the Dear Leader, “SAD.”

          I, alas, agree.

  • Yeah, just cruel and terrible.
