In other news, the World Health Organization (WHO) says global coronavirus infection set a new all-time daily record today with 150,000 new infections. The American death toll reached 120,000 today.

"Many people are understandably fed up with being at home. Countries are understandably eager to open up their societies and economies. But the virus is still spreading fast. It is still deadly and most people are still susceptible," [WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus] said.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Human Rights Council voted to open an investigation of systemic racism that leads to violent policing in the United States.

Finally, current and former Trump regime officials who spoke to the Daily Beast confirmed John Bolton's allegations about Trump and China's concentration camps.

Throughout his presidency, nine current and former senior administration officials say, Trump has exhibited a callous indifference to what has been described as crimes against humanity and cultural genocide taking place in China’s western Xinjiang province.

He couldn’t give a shit,” said a former senior Trump administration official, who’s been in the room when Trump has discussed the Uighur crisis. This official added that in their experience, “there has never been any indication when the issue comes up that the president cares or is even making any effort to fake it.”

Early heads up: I'm tentatively planning to run my summer fundraiser next week. I'm also planning to take a little time away for my birthday beginning on or around July 3rd. Technically, I'll be 36 on July 4th, but to me it will be more like my 1st birthday.

Have a good weekend and happy Father's Day.

“Thousands attend Trump Rally..” umm..population of Tulsa, 401,000. Rally BOK Center capacity 19,000, not half full. Let’s be generous and say 10,000 attended. Math says.. .02% of the population. That’s point ZERO Two percent. Let’s put these “fantastic” rallies in perspective. Again and again I’ve asked these last four years, how much are we footing the bill for these, how much do they cost, why is it remotely ethical for a sitting president to campaign on our dime, meanwhile not doing his job? I despise this mocking, malignant toddler criminal..and every one of his supporters and facilitators.

I live in a blue state and more and more I’m noticing people who are not wearing masks in public. Fortunately most businesses that serve the public such as supermarkets are still requiring masks for entry. I’m also fortunate enough to work in a place that is not open to the public and our boss is quite strict about the masks and social distancing and I’m grateful for it. I know it’s inconvenient and even uncomfortable but I honestly don’t understand this level of obstinate refusal to cooperate with very simple practices that will unquestionably save people’s lives. This isn’t freedom that’s being exercised. It’s narcissism.

    To borrow from David Mamet:
Of course Donald Trump doesn’t care a single wit about the plight of the Uighurs. Of course Donald Trump is a depraved bigot. Of course Donald Trump is unrepentantly self absorbed. That’s why we call him Donald Trump.

    Happy birthday Ashby.

    Safe weekend everyone.

On the discomfort of masks, I was hating them because they fogged my glasses all the time. Then I saw this: and tried it. I walked all the way to the shop, around the shop, and home again with only one tiny fog, which went away on the next breath. Great way to do it.

    • Sars-CoV-2 doesn’t care if you’re bored, doesn’t care if you want a haircut, doesn’t care if you think it’s a hoax. Wash your hands, practice social distancing, wear a mask in public, take the virus seriously.

    • Any report from UNHCR is thoughtful, cautious and thorough. An investigation of the US’s systemic racism and its connection to policing will almost certainly be the same. Expect Rs and Righties generally loudly and reflexively to denounce the very idea of an investigation because reasons.

    • Donald Trump doesn’t care about the Uighurs. What a surprise.

    • I’m a word nerd. If you are, too, you’ll abso-bloody-lutely love this:

    Have a safe weekend, all.

I don’t often watch videos when I’m going through my morning check-every-site, but also being a word nerd, I had to watch it. Fan-fucking-tastic.
