Univision Wants to Register Millions of New Hispanic Voters

Univision is reportedly planning to launch an initiative using it's Spanish-language network and other channels to register as many new Hispanics voters as they can.

While I was aware Univision owns the most watched Spanish-language network, I had no idea their reach extends this far.

The initiative will entail an aggressive schedule of advertisements on all of Univision’s video and digital platforms, including 126 local television and radio stations and the sports channel Univision Deportes. Station managers will exhort their audiences in old-fashioned editorials, a comprehensive online voter guide will be updated throughout the election season, and the media company will use the kinds of grass-roots organizing events usually staged by candidates — town-hall-style forums and telephone banks — to try to turn its viewers into even more of a powerhouse voting bloc than it already is.

The effort will simultaneously sign up new eligible voters and make sure past voters return to the polls. Randy Falco, Univision's CEO, said in a statement that the goal is "mobilizing the 27 million eligible Hispanic voters in the 2016 general election."

I'm sure that are many reasons why Univision is making this effort, but I have to think Donald Trump is a big part of it.

As I'm sure you recall, legendary news anchor Jorge Ramos was physically removed from a Donald Trump campaign rally last year where Trump's supporters told him to 'go back to his own country.' Furthermore, virtually the entire GOP field has unified behind the idea of building a massive wall on our southern border because of Donald Trump. Trump entered the race by declaring that immigrants are all criminals and rapists.

If Univision is as successful as they hope to be, Donald Trump may have kicked the hornet's nest.
