Election 2016

Unskew The Polls

The last time sometimes-senator Marco Rubio led a Republican presidential poll in Florida was 2013, but he's skeptical about the current state of polling which he says isn't accurate.

RUBIO: "As far as the polls are concerned, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m not very concerned about them. I don’t think they’re accurate and we're going to find out on Tuesday."

I don't necessarily expect Rubio to admit that he's probably going to lose, but I wasn't exaggerating.

If you look at the RCP average of polls, the last time Rubio led in a poll of Florida was January of 2013.

Donald Trump has led every single poll of Florida since August of 2015 when he surpassed Jeb!

It is certainly possible the polls are wrong, but that would mean almost every single poll from the last three years is wrong.

“I think the polls are inaccurate” is the equivalent of “My client is innocent and looks forward to his day in court.” They both translate to, “I am clearly screwed, but maybe I’ll get lucky and it will turn out ok.”

A phrase that springs to mind is “whistling past the graveyard.”

Another phrase that comes to mind is “dead man walking.”

Maybe that little bottle of Poland Spring Water had some other kind of clear liquid in it.
