Bush Legacy Project

Victory!

I can't imagine why the Bush foreign policy has been an epic failure. Condoleezza Rice in January, 2006 on the Palestinian elections:

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also put on a brave face, saying "we still have every reason for hope and for optimism" because voter turnout was high and free from violence. She said the Palestinian people were "expressing their desire for change," because they "have endured governance that was, by all accounts, not meeting their needs."

The line from the administration through and including the Palestinian election was: "we're so awesome -- elections for example!" So when Hamas swept, the Bushies had no choice but to applaud the outcome.

Yeah that hasn't quite worked out either, has it. And yet she still believes that history will vindicate this presidency. Good one.
