The President won the Nobel Peace Prize. The scale of this honor is hard to measure, but he's only the third sitting president to do so. The first was Teddy Roosevelt, and the second Woodrow Wilson, who founded the League of Nations, which became the United Nations, which is an imperfect body of humans but the best thing we have going to foster dialogue which is the only and ever route to peace. What the Nobel committee has done has not only repudiated the policies of the President's predecessor, who abhorred the UN as much as he clearly despised talking to anyone who didn't agree with him, but has befuddled millions of boneheads of all political stripes who think that peace is about signing treaties or amassing more weapons than the other guy. It's not. Peace is created slowly, one word at a time, between people who respect each others basic human right to live, and are willing to sit down across a table and talk. The President is applying this basic lesson taught in kindergartens the world over to the global stage. And so he gets a deserved prize. Our President.
