We’ve Always Been at War With Hillary’s Emails

Written by SK Ashby

There are a lot of problems in the world the United States Congress may or may not be interested in tackling, but at least two days of this week were devoted to long hearings on Hillary Clinton's emails.

Yes, in 2018, Republicans are still holding hearings on Emailghazi.

House Republicans held a five hour long hearing on Clinton's emails on Wednesday and that followed a similarly long hearing at the Senate the previous day. And not surprisingly, chicken-fucking foreman and former Select Benghazi Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy tried to get the inspector general to say that rogue FBI agents disrupted their investigation.

Horowitz found no evidence that specific investigative decisions in the case were affected by the political biases of some at the FBI, but Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), who chairs the House Oversight Committee, said the bias that was found strikes at the integrity of the criminal-justice system.

“If someone is prejudging the outcome of an investigation before it ends and someone is prejudging the outcome of an investigation before it even begins, what is more textbook bias?” Gowdy said after reading text messages between two senior FBI officials, Agent Peter Strzok and lawyer Lisa Page.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz conceded that the text messages between Strzko and Page were inappropriate, but he confirmed what the report said; their private conversations with each other did not ultimately effect the outcome of any investigation.

I doubt many Republican lawmakers including Trey Gowdy really believe Strzok and Page somehow jeopardized the investigation, but this isn't really about that. This is about saving face.

Gowdy and dozens of other congressional Republican have spent nearly six years trying to nail the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton to a wall and they've come up empty. It would be all too convenient for them if they could wrap it all up in a bow and say a couple rogue FBI agents conspired to cock-block their multi-year witch hunt that literally stretched across three different sessions of Congress.

If Republicans are truly mad at the FBI about anything, it's because the FBI hasn't validated their conspiracy theories. The behavior of former FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Director Andrew McCabe actually did more to confirm there was a cultural impetus within law enforcement to defame Hillary Clinton than anyone else. And even with their bias working against her, Clinton's critics still couldn't find anything.
