In other news, British parliament has summoned Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to answer questions about the personal information of more than 50 million users that Cambridge Analytica gained access to.

Meanwhile, Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary Ben Carson told the House Appropriations Committee that his wife is responsible for spending the department's money.

Carson said Tuesday that he was not involved in the rest of the process and delegated to his wife, Candy Carson.

“I left it with my wife,” he told the committee.

The next Carson heard about the dining set was that a $31,000 set had been ordered, he told the committee.

So much for personal responsibility. But also, why the fuck is his wife involved in the process in the first place?

In related news, one of Ben Carson's top officials resigned this morning after reports surfaced that he lied about his qualifications and was implicated in fraud.

By the way, we're 3 days away from a possible government shutdown.

Apparently, “The buck stops….uh…. somewhere else”.

Ben Carson probably thinks “I put my wife in charge.” is an explanation that nobody would object to.

Remember his story about how he was in a Popeye’s and directed a robber to go victimize someone else and how he thought that made him look good? Or the one about how he tried to stab someone and thought that cast him in a positive light?

    He’s simply deluded by ego.

Imagine that. The British have a government that actually seems to give a flying crap about companies dedicated to ffffing up their elections and violating the privacy rights of their citizens. Maybe because of the recent chemical attack on their soil.

I can’t get over that. How is Ben Carson’s wife picking out furniture on the tax payers dime? Explain that one to me. Like I’m a neurosurgeon or something. Explain to me why a neurosurgeon doesn’t get that that is not OK? You can file that one under Captain Obvious, right next to Not Rocket Science. Or…. is it that all of trump cabinet seem to believe the law does not apply to them?

    • JMAshby

I think Ben Carson is actually a stone-cold dumbass.

      • Badgerite

Well. Neurosurgery is not a common skill, easily picked up, so I think he is not a “dumbass”, but he seems to have many a…..umm…..blind spot, shall we say. I have to wonder what he considers his job there at HUD to be? What the hell does he or his wife think he is there to do? Redecorate?

Sometimes people who are amazingly talented in a specific technical area have complete disdain for non-technical expertise. (How many software developers have *I* dealt with, who think managers are unnecessary because all we have are “soft skills”? Yeah, like keeping an eye on the schedule and the budget and the priorities and the customer… But I digress.) Ethics is a non-technical field. A soft skill, as it were. I’m recognizing the Ben Carson type from afar…

          • Badgerite

Good comment. I think you are right. But just as character matters, ethics matter.

There’s no shortage of PhDs out there who may know everything there is to know about a single subject, but don’t know anything else.

In other words, being a neurosurgeon does not necessarily mean you aren’t a dumbass for all other intents and purposes.

Ben Carson once said Advanced Placement (AP) US History would “make you want to join ISIS.” He said the ancient pyramids were really just grain storage silos.
