George Zimmerman Gun Fetishists Guns

Wingnut Welfare

The embarrassing, Ohio-based gun fetishist Buckeye Firearms Foundation has donated $12,000 to George Zimmerman so he can buy more guns. Bless his little heart.

On Tuesday, an Ohio-based gun advocacy group sent George Zimmerman, who fatally shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a $12,150.37 check with which to purchase more guns. [...]

The U.S. Department of Justice is still holding the gun that killed Martin, as part of a civil rights investigation into the killing, though an attorney for Zimmerman claims that since the verdict, there is “even more reason” for Zimmerman to always be armed. Attorney Mark O’Mara “said his client is getting threats since the verdict earlier this month and has been carrying a weapon.”

You have to marvel at the irony of George Zimmerman being afraid for his life because he may be unarmed. And the idea that he may be looking over his shoulder now? Hilarious.

Never fear, there’s plenty of wingnut welfare to go around.

The thing is George Zimmerman was already afraid and looking over his shoulder. It was fear that put that first gun in his hand and compelled him to “patrol” his neighborhood.
Take the gun away and he doesn’t walk down that ally behind Martin. Take the gun away and he never leaves the car after calling 911. That night an armed man compelled by fear that his self-reinforcing personal myth had twisted into angry righteous justification walked after, not Martin, but a projected embodyment of all Zimmermans fears.

Zimmerman could have avoided all it by just putting the car in drive and going home. Justified or not, actions have consequences (aren’t his supporters the Party of Personal Responsibility?).

    Justice.

I’m sure that Zimmerman will feel threatened by any black person he sees from now on. Of course, he’ll also feel like he can get away with just blowing them away for that reason.

Oh, gods. Isn’t that a nightmare snowball scenario. If all that’s needed to justify “standing your ground” is for the person to believe that they are in danger, then even beyond the ridiculous insanity of STG in the first place is that anyone who’s relied on it could then claim they have a generally heightened sense of fear.

  • I hope he’s afraid every moment of every day for the rest of his life. At least he still has a life.

And I’m mean enough to hope he has a very long life.

Those conservatives are such good capitalists that they can even make a profit out of hunting and killing black teenagers!

    • Wait, haven’t they ALWAYS done that?

Yeah, sometimes I wish I was morally bankrupt so that I could cash in.

Me too. But I have to look at myself in the mirror every day.
