In other news, Senate Republicans have voted against calling witnesses in Trump's impeachment trial and will promptly declare him above the law. We knew this was coming.

Meanwhile, Trump has expanded his Muslim ban to also include several African and Eastern nations including Nigeria, Myanmar, Eritrea and Kyrgyzstan.

Finally, the economy grew at the slowest pace of Trump's first term in 2019 according to the Commerce Department.

The 2.3% expansion last year reported by the Commerce Department on Thursday suggested the White House and Republicans’ massive $1.5 trillion tax cut package, which President Donald Trump had predicted would lift growth above 3%, had provided the economy only a temporary boost.

Moderate growth undercuts the argument by Trump and his fellow Republicans that strong growth would pay for the tax cuts, which are expected to help push the federal budget deficit to $1.02 trillion this year. Growth last year was the slowest since 2016 and followed the 2.9% notched in 2018.

    • No surprise.

    • No surprise.

    • No surprise.

    • I reminded myself last night that Stan Rogers existed.

    Have a good weekend, all.

There should NEVER be another Republican allowed to say anything publicly without having to be accountable for this sham they have perpetrated on this country. Every single reporter should begin every interview with asking how they can justify not only voting down witnesses, but for upholding this entire charade.

If reporters did what they should, we wouldn’t have had the last two Republican presidents.

I’m tempted to say that the Republican party’s betrayal of America is complete but who would I be kidding? This treason will never be complete so long as a single R has even an ounce of political power. There is no rock bottom.

This seems appropriate enough. Both for it’s title and it’s mood.

I hope everyone has a good weekend in spite of it all.

As if the tax cuts would ever result in anything other than soaring deficits. Trump: “This huge tax cut will be rocket fuel for our economy.” Mnuchin: “The tax overhaul would generate more than enough economic growth to offset the cost.” And the talk of cuts to Medicaid is right on cue.
