Buzzfeed News spoke with a group of former employees of Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida who say he secretly eavesdropped on the private phone calls of guests and employees.
If it were anyone else I might find this hard to believe, but these former employee say Trump's private bedroom at the Mar-A-Lago features a console that can listen to any land-line phone in the resort
Four of them — speaking on condition of anonymity because they signed nondisclosure agreements — said that Trump listened in on phone calls at the club during the mid-2000s. They did not know if he eavesdropped more recently.
They said he listened in on calls between club employees or, in some cases, between staff and guests. None of them knew of Trump eavesdropping on guests or members talking on private calls with people who were not employees of Mar-a-Lago. [...]
Each of these four sources said they personally saw the telephone console, which some referred to as a switchboard, in Trump’s bedroom.
One source told Buzzfeed News that employees were informed that Trump could listen to their conversations. Another source said some employees could easily discern when Trump was listening to their phone calls.
Perhaps the bigger concern is Trump listening to the private phone calls of guests, not his employees who were seemingly aware that he might be listening. If I were a former guest of some prominence or importance I may be on the phone with Trump right now demanding answers. We can only guess what Trump may have been doing in his private bedroom with access to every phone line.
The Trump campaign is denying this, of course, but it's easier for me to accept the word of Trump's former employees than his word. Donald Trump is a serial liar and a creep. This is a man who has openly fantasized about dating his daughter and was accused of rape by his former wife. Who knows what he was doing at Mar-A-Lago?
