A Job Is A Job

Like Ezra, I've been receiving more than a few comments and emails about my Huffington Post column from far-right readers suggesting the recovery act didn't work -- and yes it has. That's not a typo, it's the message I'm hearing. For example:

The stimulus worked? You must be smoking some very strong weed. Allow any fool to borrow and spend $787 Billion any way he wants and it is going to have a positive short term impact on the economy.

In other words: the stimulus didn't work and Bob must be high to think it did -- but of course it worked just as it was supposed to.

Do I even need to mention wingnuts and contradictions again?

Anyway, the conservative line is that public sector jobs aren't real jobs. They aren't? Ezra responds:

I'd bet a construction worker whose job was saved by the stimulus thought that her situation was much more like having a job than not having a job, even if the state provided the money that ensured the paycheck.
