In other news, on his second day of testimony in front of Congress, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell urged Congress to extend increased unemployment benefits and household stimulus to make sure an economic recovery actually holds rather than sputtering out.

Meanwhile, a group of former officials from the Bush administration and even the Trump regime have created a new PAC that will urge registered Republicans to vote for Joe Biden.

Finally, the Trump regime plans to continue their march toward devilry by bringing back the federal executions for the first time since the early Bush years.

After nearly two decades, the federal government will once again begin executing criminals, the Justice Department announced Monday. Four inmates convicted of murdering children are set to be put to death by lethal injection.

"The four murderers whose executions are scheduled today have received full and fair proceedings under our Constitution and laws," said Attorney General William Barr in a statement. "We owe it to the victims of these horrific crimes, and to the families left behind, to carry forward the sentence imposed by our justice system." [...]

Federal executions have been exceedingly rare in recent decades. According to the Death Penalty Information Center, only three have taken place since the federal death penalty was reinstated in 1988. All of those executions were carried out during the George W. Bush administration. One of those was Timothy McVeigh, sentenced to death for bombing the Oklahoma City federal building.

In 2014, President Barack Obama ordered a review of how the death penalty is applied in the U.S. after a bungled state execution in Oklahoma in which medical officials had difficulty inserting the IV. It ultimately took more than an hour for the prisoner to die.

Some people say the death penalty is warranted for the most heinous crimes. I'm not sure how I feel about that personally, but one thing I am fairly certain about is the Trump regime shouldn't be making the call.

There's no justice in such a lawless, corrupt regime executing citizens. And maybe the death penalty isn't justice under any administration -- I don't know -- but the Trump regime has proven itself to be incompetent and corrupt many times over. I wouldn't trust the Trump-era Department of Justice with a pizza order.

I question the value of former Trump officials campaigning for Biden. If the idea is to convince Republican voters to switch parties (even if only for this one election) frankly, we’ve been down that road before and it didn’t work. Granted Joe Biden is not Hillary Clinton. He hasn’t endured a quarter century smear campaign that was turned into a literal industry so perhaps I’m being unfairly cynical here, but I feel it would be better to to appeal to voters likely to for Dems who perhaps have not voted before. I just find it extremely difficult to believe that there is a significant number of Trump voters who are now willing to vote Democrat.

This is just my opinion and I could easily be way off the mark.
