Left Wing Conspiracy
Ben Smith writes a story about a morning conference call and O'Reilly turns it into Watergate. You know what this is? O'Reilly and Rove preferred it when the Democrats were scattered and disorganized. But when Rove funneled talking points to FOX News on a daily basis, that was considered "message...
Malkin vs. Meghan McCain
Malkin appears to be choosing which stand-up comics Meghan McCain is allowed to like. Doesn't Malkin know that if you choose your comedy based upon ideology, you'll only be allowed to like Larry the Cable Guy, Victoria Jackson and Dennis Miller? That's not a huge pool. Nor a particularly funny one...
Surrounded by Glenn Beck
As we know, Glenn Beck is rallying his fellow Doom Bunker paranoiacs to figuratively "surround us." Thers observes: You know, I totally get why yoking the GOP to Limbaugh makes sense, politically. But the truth is, 21st Century Conservatism is Glenn Beck -- and his pal Chuck Norris, famed...

Disconnected from Reality
Sea levels are rising faster than scientists expected. Yet 40 percent of Americans (and rising) believe the climate crisis is exaggerated. We're a smart people!
Shep Smith is… Sarcasmo!
There's some clear anger under that mockery. Smith considers himself a reasonably even-handed news anchor there -- I can't imagine he's too thrilled by the prospect of promoting Beck who is a parody of a satire of a cartoon of a far-right cable news pundit. With a punch-me face. UPDATE: From Chez...
Very Serious Question
Remember when people were saying that liberal bloggers and comedians wouldn't have anything to talk about if Barack Obama won the election?
Glenn Beck’s Nine Principles
Yes, Beck has principles. But I thought there was only one: "Say deliberately crazy things and mug to the camera with doughy punch-me face." Seriously, check them out then tell me if they sound a little bit like a daily affirmation: I don't have to be a great basketball player. I don't have to...

Quote of the Week
"You (Jim Cramer) now have become the face of this, and that is incredibly unfortunate. Because you’re not the face of it, you shouldn’t be the face of it. You were the person that was, uh, I-don’t-know-what enough to stand up and go, "Hey, that wasn’t fair!" Which it’s not, because this show isn’t...

Rand on Abortion
From Rand's "Of Living Death," published in The Objectivist newsletter, 1968: An embryo has no rights. Rights do not pertain to a potential, only to an actual being. A child cannot acquire any rights until it is born. The living take precedence over the not-yet-living (or the unborn). Abortion is a...
The Tea Act of 1773
It's worth mentioning this again. The British law that eventually precipitated the Boston Tea Party was the Tea Act of 1773. One of the many inconsistencies of the wingnut tea bagging revolution is the unfortunate fact that the Tea Act was basically a corporate tax cut. How do we know for sure...
Super Stupid
This Pajamas Media video about "going Galt" is remarkably silly (jump to the halfway mark to be totally amazed by stupidity). Do these wingnuts realize the full scope of what Ayn Rand was all about? In numerous ways, to embrace Rand's objectivism is to reject modern conservatism. Begin with her...
