Ben Carson is Just as Ridiculous as You Remember

I don't think anyone was dying to know what Ben Carson thinks about Trump's disastrous phone call with the widow of a special forces operator who died in Niger, but Carson was asked about it during a public event yesterday and his response was somehow dumber than anything I could have imagined.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson on Wednesday said some people “were just looking for something to complain about” in President Donald Trump’s remarks to the widow of a U.S. soldier killed in Niger earlier in October. [...]

“I mean, if he had said, you know, ‘I’m sorry, this is sure a dark day for you,’ they would have said ‘See, he’s a racist, he said a dark day,'” Carson, who is black, said, apparently referring to Johnson and his widow Myeshia Johnson, who are also black.

I suppose it's a good thing that Ben Carson understands that Donald Trump is widely known to be a racist.

  • How did this man become a pediatric brain surgeon highly respected for pioneering new techniques?

  • Badgerite

Well, yes, as a matter of fact I think it would have been wholly inappropriate for trump to have told Mrs. Johnson that it was “surely a dark day for you”. Not “racist” so much as thoroughly insensitive. About as ‘heart felt’ as “he knew what he signed up for” or the “warmest regards”, or “have fun” to those dealing with the wreckage of a category 5 hurricane. On the human empathy meter he clocks in at a zero.
But then there is no real surprise there.

So trump has continued to yap about how wonderfully he handled the call to “the woman”, “the wife”, “the widow.”

Has the blundering witless uncaring moron ever actually said her name? If asked how Myeshia was doing, would he have a clue who she was?

I would like to see a reporter ask, “How do you respond to Myeshia Johnson’s comments?” just to see the panic in his eyes.

“some people “were just looking for something to complain about”
Yes, and as is to be expected with a loathsome pig like trump, they found it. Just because they might have been looking, doesn’t mean there wasn’t something to find, Carson, you idiot savant.

    • ninjaf

Right, because the grieving widow didn’t have enough on her plate, she had to find something to be offended by.

I believe Carson somewhere, somehow, received a blow to the head and sustain a grievous injury and that is how I have now decided to view our current political arena.

      Dementia, maybe?

      • Georgie

        Drugs, I bet.

That Carson could be a gifted surgeon while so utterly moronic in every thing else is overshadowed by the realization of how incredibly stupid many 1%ers are. Of course it is easier to understand if you take into account the fact that many of them inherited their wealth. Regardless, I wouldn’t let Carson anywhere near me with a sharp instrument.

Ben Carson was a truly gifted surgeon. Unfortunately, the knowledge necessary for him to be a gifted surgeon seems to have pushed everything else out of his brain.

Sadly, his comments about Donald Trump’s call to Myeshia Johnson were only his second most cringeworthy performance of the week. Watch in amazement.

I saw that, he seems barely able to keep his eyes open

    • Holy crap. Carson, like most of the Trump appointees, is contemptuous of not only his own agency, but the very idea of oversight by the people of the United States. They just don’t give a fuck about any democratic norms and are willing to demonstrate that for all to see.

  • Carson is a nincompoop. Full Stop.
