My Favorite Comedy Films of The Decade

Continuing on with my obligatory best-of lists. Still on movies, and my favorite movie category is...

Porn! Kidding. POW! No seriously. It's porn. Then comedies.

10. Tropic Thunder
Late entry, but a very funny movie nevertheless. Maybe this says something about me, but whenever I think about the over-the-top way Ben Stiller's hands are blown off -- almost leaving a palm tree of flesh and gore -- I can't stop laughing. I know. I hate myself.

9. Meet the Parents
Funniest parts: any scene with Owen Wilson, and "Oh yeah. Jack talk Thai. Jack talk Thai real good."

8. Talladega Nights
More than anything else, this movie is probably the best satire of Bush-era America. And possibly the funniest improv scene in any comedy takes place around the dinner table. "Chip, I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey!"

7. 40 Year Old Virgin
Admit it. You once had to hide your action figures before a date, too. Come on. Be honest. No? Just me? Crap.

6. Best in Show
The high water mark for the Christopher Guest troupe. To this day, I still repeat Larry Miller's line: "I'll gouge your right eye out with my thumb, I shit you not, you little freak!"

5. Wet Hot American SummerThe troupe from The State with the most underrated comedy of the decade. Christopher Meloni is pure WIN.4. AnchormanLLLLOUD NOISES! There are so many memorable lines from this movie, I couldn't possibly list them all. Just look.3. SuperbadBest high school comedy since Fast Times. And McLovin! People have told me that I'm like Evan. I don't know how to take that.2. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of KazakhstanI can't remember ever laughing this much in a movie theater ever. Sacha Baron Cohen absolutely belongs near the top a list of legends with Groucho Marx, Ernie Kovacs, The Pythons and Peter Sellers.1. Shaun of the DeadGenius from beginning to end. And it has this scene:UPDATE... Two favorites that probably should've been on the list. Hot Fuzz and Napoleon Dynamite. Also, I would've included Office Space, but it was released in 1999. And Idiocracy was included on the Political Films list.
