The House GOP’s First Act

Once the House is back in session their first act of the new year will be to — you guessed it — fiddle with Obamacare. And, as you also may have guessed, House Republicans led by Majority Leader Eric Cantor plan to legislate a fix for a problem that doesn’t exist.

In a new memo to GOP members that was provided to TPM, Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) outlined his plan to bring up a bill designed “to strengthen security requirements as well as require prompt notification in the event of a breach involving personal information.” [...]

Cantor pointed to four investigations by Republican-led House committees that detailed the potential for online data breaches in the Obamacare exchanges.

And who oversaw those committee investigations?

House Oversight Chairman Darrell “Witch Hunt” Issa.

Now that Issa has manufactured a series of fake problems, the House intends to act on them.

It can’t be stated any more clearly than to say the Republican party is using the House of Representatives to wage a political campaign. Representatives and their staffs are using your taxpayer money to conduct opposition research and a smear campaign.

Under sane circumstances you may refer this case to the Ethics Committee, but they control that too and they’re deploying it in their political campaign.
