BP hired private firm Talon Security to block media access to sections of Gulf beaches and intimidate workers. From WDSU TV:
Of course the workers are afraid of being fired if they talk to the press.
I can see some logic in making sure workers are doing their jobs without too many distractions, but BP doesn't own those beaches. They have no right whatsoever to command hired thugs dressed in quasi-military khakis to block press access to the beaches.
