Generally, in a functioning democracy, the people in politics and media with despicable and hateful ideas will be shunned from their parties and ignored. Well, since that aspect of American democracy is broken beyond repair, individually deciding to ignore the batshit crazy, hateful people is no longer the appropriate way to deal with them. That’s why we mocked Glen Beck’s stupidity and insincerity right up until he lost his show, and we continue to point out the bat-shit crazy coming from him whenever he gets publicity. We did this despite the fact that progressives were constantly coming here to warn us not to lend Beck any credence with our constant criticism. It’s the same reason that Bill Maher has assholes like Breitbart on his show. It’s not some kind of tacit approval. It’s because you can’t just ignore him when our broken media is all taking him seriously. When Breitbart when on Real Time he got called out as a lying con-artist by Laura Flanders of GritTV, and was generally mocked as being full of shit. Not to mention, he irrevocably marked himself as a huge fanboy of John Waters’ filthy brand of (home-grown Baltimore) smut. And that explains a lot.

Frum? Maybe. Sullivan? No, I don’t really count him as serious anymore following his hearty embrace of Paul Ryan’s budget.

Lazy perhaps, or they just cant get any reasonable conservatives to come on because they know they will have to explain themselves for supporting ludicrous GOP policy.

While I agree the field of crazy is full of candidates, there are some Republicans who haven’t taken the tiny blue pill (or is it the red pill, can’t remember my Matrix lore). What about Frum? Sullivan? If I can think of just two in this post, how many more are out there? Maher and his staff are being lazy OR trying to get the craziest people out there for the sake of ratings. We’re being played with and I for one, am done with Maher.

Damn. My sympathies to anyone in, or who knows someone in, Joplin.
