But the President has a lot of things to be involved in and a lot of things he should be able to trust are being taken care of without requiring his personal involvement.

In reply to Christopher Foxx. That is crazy talk, Christopher. He should have been told immediately upon that fact coming out. The SS was surprised he was armed when his company told him to hand the weapon over. A president should be kept in the loop when his safety is compromised.

We wouldn't know if the Washington Post hadn't reported it yesterday. Not reporting it to the White House is ass covering that backfired. Not reporting it could lead to a repeat incident.

Many years ago, I was working a broadcast at a major sports venue at which the POTUS was in attendance. (I won’t say where, when, or which POTUS.) I and my equipment were, of course, thoroughly searched when I first arrived. As I was setting up in the booth, I was having trouble with the ISDN so I needed to use a 2-line Comrex that I had left in my car. I was able to leave the stadium, go to the car, retrieve a hard case containing the Comrex, and re-enter the stadium carrying that case — completely unmolested.

Later, when we had the POTUS on the air for a brief interview during the game, I realized that the Comrex case could have contained just about anything…….

I don’t see a problem with the President not being told. I expect there are a lot of things regrading his security the President doesn’t get told about. But letting someone who hadn’t been screened hop onto the elevator with him…
