In other news, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Wisconsin's gerrymandered congressional districts are unconstitutional.

"We find that Act 43 was intended to burden the representational rights of Democratic voters throughout the decennial period by impeding their ability to translate their votes into legislative seats," wrote federal appeals court judge Kenneth Ripple, the senior judge on the three-judge panel. "Moreover, as demonstrated by the results of the 2012 and 2014 elections, among other evidence, we conclude that Act 43 has had its intended effect. Finally, we find that the discriminatory effect is not explained by the political geography of Wisconsin nor is it justified by a legitimate state interest. Consequently, Act 43 constitutes an unconstitutional political gerrymander."

Meanwhile, the oldest surviving Tuskegee Airman, Willie Rogers, has passed away at the age of 101.

Finally, let's check in on Alex Jones:

Our next president is a fan.

  • Georgie

Well that Alex Jones clip was entertaining. Is he talking about Batboy?

  • Draxiar

Now, let’s talk about rigged elections and how Hillary is to blame for abandoning the working class.

There are a lot of things in our Democratic process that need updating. The gerrymander is one. The Electoral College is another. And so is the method of voting and the idea of having a paper trail compiled that can be audited so that the tabulation can be verified. Defects in these processes have all been apparent since 2000 and the problems with them still persist. And in some cases have gotten worse. You want to prevent autocracy, then maintain the true democratic nature of our elective process.

Vote by mail seems to be the way to go to me. No need for polling places or standing in line; a paper trail is left for retallying; and more people might actually participate.

      • That presumes they can even get a mail ballot to you….which is something that stopped working here in AZ.

        • Idea: Ballot trucks. Like ice cream trucks, except you fill out the ballot there. And then you get an ice cream.

        • ninjaf

Good point. I am sure there are accommodations that can be made, such as the ability to pick up a ballot in person.

        • MadJuana

How can they screw that up?

          • Somehow they did. I kept calling the County and verified they had the correct address and they kept saying we mailed it on the 17th and I never got it.

Washington state has vote by mail and I have to say that, now that I’m getting decrepit, I really appreciate it. I’ve stayed registered and exercised the franchise consistently since 1970 where ever I lived, but vote by mail makes it easy to participate.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has just delivered a ray of sunshine in an otherwise very grey environment. Let’s hope North Carolina does the same.

“Meanwhile, the oldest surviving Tuskegee Airman, Willie Rogers, has passed away at the age of 101.”

    R.I.P. He served us all.
