Filling the Kennedy Seat

Ezra Klein makes an outstanding point about filling the Kennedy seat with an interim appointment.

In short: if there's any guilt about revising the law for political expedience, bear in mind that the Republicans will absolutely exploit Kennedy's death by filibustering healthcare reform. The Republicans know that the only reason the Democrats don't have 60 votes is because Kennedy died and they will seize upon that weakness with gusto.

So don't feel bad.
