In other news, the Chamber of Commerce is warning Trump not to shut down the government over his fantasy border wall. "It’s usually not a strategy that has historically worked out very well,” Chamber of Commerce vice president Neil Bradley says. No shit?
Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen says the Trump regime should not repeal regulations implemented after the 2008 financial crisis.
Yellen said that in all, the tighter regulations, far from stifling economic growth, had actually helped the economy in part by making the financial system safer.
“Our more resilient financial system is better prepared to absorb, rather than amplify, adverse shocks, as has been illustrated during periods of market turbulence in recent years,” she said.
Finally, Hurricane Harvey has strengthened to a category 3 storm with 120 mph winds. The storm is expected to make landfall tonight. The official National Weather Service forecast is now calling for as much as 30 inches of rain in some locations, with some models anticipating even more than that. The storm is expected to linger over the coast for up to 4 or 5 days, hence the massive amount of rainfall expected.
