Hand of the Almighty

It's another day and we have another abortion bill, but this time with a twist - it came out of the House of Idaho rather than the United States House.

The legislature of Idaho recently gave final approval to a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks, but not before down-voting an amendment to the bill that would exempt the victims of rape or incest.

While arguing against the amendment to create exemptions, the sponsor of the bill, Brent Crane, had this to say

State Rep. Brent Crane, R-Nampa, told legislators that the “hand of the Almighty” was at work. “His ways are higher than our ways,” Crane said. “He has the ability to take difficult, tragic, horrific circumstances and then turn them into wonderful examples.”

Turn lemons into lemonade, right Sharron Angle?

State Rep. Shannon McMillan also argued against the amendment by saying that women who were impregnated under “violent circumstances" should not be granted an exemption because it's "not the fetus's fault." Hollow words that will undoubtedly provide limited solace to future victims.

Governor Butch Otter is expected to sign the bill into law as soon as possible.
