In other news, Senator Ted Cruz has returned to Texas after getting caught taking a trip to Cancun, Mexico during a deadly disaster (and an ongoing pandemic) in his own state.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Capitol Police force is now actively investigating 35 officers for their actions during the attack on the capitol last month.

Investigators have been looking into the response by the Capitol Police officers on Jan. 6 and whether any of the officers may have aided the rioters, according to congressional aides and some lawmakers.

Finally, Republicans are now accusing each other of engaging in "cancel culture."

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — U.S. Sen. John Thune is criticizing Republican activists and party leaders for engaging in “cancel culture” by rushing to censure GOP senators who found former President Donald Trump guilty of inciting an insurrection.

In his first interview since he voted to acquit Trump, the Senate's No. 2 Republican on Thursday defended fellow Republicans who sided with Democrats on the “vote of conscience” and warned against shutting out dissenting voices in the party.

“There was a strong case made,” Thune said of the Democrats' impeachment presentation. “People could come to different conclusions. If we’re going to criticize the media and the left for cancel culture, we can’t be doing that ourselves.”

I just want to add that the concept of there being some great liberal "cancel culture" is for people who can't stand the thought of ever being held accountable for being a piece of shit.

For various reasons, this past week has been one of the most emotional weeks I've had in a long time and I'm truly glad it's over. I'll see you all on Monday.

Have a good weekend!
