Hell Freezes Over, Fiorina Admits She Got it Wrong

Written by SK Ashby

During the last GOP primary debate Carly Fiorina claimed that nearly all of the jobs (92 percent) lost during President Obama's first term in office belonged to women, but over the weekend she actually admitted that was a misleading statistic.

Fiorina appeared on ABC's This Week where she said she "misspoke," but she also blamed the diabolical liberal media for wasting their time doing a little fact-checking.

"I misspoke on that particular fact," Fiorina said on ABC’s “This Week.” [...]

Fiorina then criticized the “liberal media” for picking apart the statistic rather than her broader argument, which was that liberal polices are bad for women economically.

And I suppose shutting Planned Parenthood out of Medicaid coverage is a great policy for women, right? I digress.

To be clear, if you account for all jobs lost between 2007 when the recession began and the end of the president's first term, women account for 39.7 percent of all losses. That's a far cry from the 92 percent figure first floated by the Romney campaign in 2012 and repeated by Fiorina last week.

Exact statistics aside, assigning the lion's share of blame to the president means blaming him for a disaster that began long before he even declared his candidacy for office.

But as we all know, history began on January 20th, 2009.
