House Republicans Can’t Stop Shitting the Bed On Benghazi

When House Republican leadership created the Select Solyndra IRS Committee to Investigate the Benghazi ACORN Birth Certificate, they effectively wrested control of the Benghazi issue from the incompetent hands of former Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa who did nothing but piss into the wind for two years.

If John Boehner's latest threat is to be believed, House leadership may take control of the issue again and usurp the Select Committee they created.

Speaker Boehner told Bloomberg that he may call on the full House to vote to subpoena Hillary Clinton's emails.

“All options are on the table,” Boehner said in an interview on Bloomberg’s politics show “With All Due Respect.” “If we need to do that, we may have to.” [...]

“It’s important for the American people to know the truth about what happened in Benghazi,” he said. “It's important to know what was going on at the State Department before, during and after the events that occurred in Libya.”

Even at face value Boehner's premise is flawed because if the American people don't "know the truth," that would mean several Republican-controlled committees that issued their own conclusive reports on the matter have withheld the truth.

Why would they do that?

For Boehner to say that the full House will vote on the issue 'if they have to' is a misnomer because they don't have to; because the State Department is already in possession of Clinton's emails that contain official business and is currently reviewing them for public release.

But that's not all House Republicans want. They want her personal emails.

Republicans, Boehner said, believe Clinton should turn over her emails — stored on her personal server — to the State Department’s inspector general. The IG can “sort out what’s official, what’s private,” especially as it relates to the 2012 attack on diplomatic installations in Benghazi, Libya, Boehner said.

Boehner's threats may be hollow but the apparent vote of no confidence in chairman Trey Gowdy and the Select Bullshit Committee is real.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Boehner issued this threat just days after Trey Gowdy revealed that the committee won't release it's findings until 2016.

Boehner may be concerned that Gowdy will bumble along and ultimately fail to find the smoking gun that Darrell Issa was unable to find, but there is no other possible outcome. The Select Solyndra IRS Committee to Investigate the Benghazi ACORN Birth Certificate Email Account was a waste of time before it even held its first meeting.
