Is Steve Mnuchin a Lizard?

Written by SK Ashby

ABC News reported this week that Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin requested the use of a government jet for his European honeymoon trip at the potential cost of $25,000 per hour. That request occurred weeks before Mnuchin reportedly used a government jet to fly to Kentucky to view the solar eclipse on August 21st.

While Mnuchin's explanation that he requested a government jet for his honeymoon for "national security reasons" may suffice for some people (not me), his explanation for using a government jet to view the solar eclipse may enrage people who would otherwise defend him.

You see, only the plebs in Kentucky are interested in viewing once-in-a-lifetime events and he took the jet so he could see Fort Knox, not to watch the solar eclipse.

"You know, people in Kentucky took this stuff very serious,” Mnuchin said of the eclipse at a conference hosted by Politico. “Being a New Yorker and [living for a time in] California, I was like, the eclipse? Really? I don’t have any interest in watching the eclipse.”

I bet they didn't even serve hors d'oeuvres at the watch party. How pedestrian!

For all the talk about coastal elites, avocado toast, and big-city learnin', this is among the most elitist takes I've ever seen. And he's a member of Trump's cabinet.

It's not clear how taking a joyride to tour Fort Knox with his intragraming wife makes this better.
