That sentence applies to 99% of what “conservatives” have done for the last 25+ years.

Surely there’s a way to reduce the bottleneck without compromising safety (I have no doubt civilian health authorities and the Navy can and will hash out a solution).

At the same time, this positively reeks of Donald Trump seeking revenge on New York for not groveling enough.

And Trump’s unofficial business model has always been to overpromise and underdeliver.

It isn’t just Trump.

When hurricane Sandy slammed New Jersey and the state needed federal emergency funding congressional Republicans once again suddenly discovered the value in their alleged fiscal conservatism, including the late Senator Tom Coburn who was nicknamed “Dr No” within Congress due to how often he voted downed federal spending bills. Yet later on when it was his home state of Oklahoma slammed by tornado damage he was Jonny On The Spot with publicly calling for federal disaster relief. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul pulled the same shit when it was the state of Texas in need of assistance but got their fiscal hand wringing on for Puerto Rico.

They’re not patriots. They’re Republicans. The two should never be confused.
