John McCain Wants Benghazi Conspiracy Theorist Lindsey Graham to Run for President, And Other News

Graham

If Lindsey Graham knows what's good for the rest of us, he'll listen to his longtime buddy John McCain and throw his hat into the presidential ring.

“I think he is looking at it, and I am strongly encouraging him to take a look at it,” McCain, R-Ariz., told ABC News. “I know of no one who is better versed and more important on national security policy and defense than Lindsey Graham, and I don’t think these challenges to our security are going away.”

“He is eminently qualified,” McCain added.

No one is better versed or more important on national security than Lindsey Graham, he says.

Really?

On Friday the Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee released its comprehensive report on Benghazi which essentially debunked every conspiracy theory there is on the subject, but Lindsey Graham, for this part, says the report is "full of crap."

"I think the report is full of crap," Graham said on CNN's "State of the Union." [...]

"I'm saying that anybody who has followed Benghazi at all knows that the CIA deputy director did not come forward to tell Congress what role he played in changing the talking points," he said. "And the only way we knew he was involved is when he told a representative at the White House, I'm going to do a hard review of this, a hard rewrite."

If Lindsey Graham is going to rewrite the Intelligence Committee report to his liking, he may not want to stop there.

The House Armed Services Committee beat the Intelligence Committee to the punch by a matter of months by debunking all manner of conspiracy theories, chiefly among them the theory that a "stand down" order was issued. We have multiple confirmations that there's no there, there. And this is not a partisan liberal speaking. These are House GOP-controlled committees that ultimately found nothing.

Does Senator Lindsey Graham contend that House Republicans conspired to whitewash their Benghazi reports? Is he contending that the Armed Services and Intelligence Committees are part of the conspiracy? Is "the fix" in?

Lindsey Graham has been fucking the Benghazi chicken for over two years. Can he continue for another two? Can he ride that chicken all the way to the GOP nomination?

For the sake of comedy, I hope he tries.

And speaking of animal cruelty, the latest report from the House Intelligence Committee may be the final insult to Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa. It should have been Issa's committee that thoroughly investigated and ultimately cleared the administration of wrongdoing, but Issa systematically turned the committee into a corrupt joke that suppressed or ignored countervailing evidence. Issa's investigation wasn't exhaustive because he didn't want to uncover or report the truth.

In fact, Issa has gone much further than simply ignoring evidence that didn't support his theories. On multiple occasions during his time as chairman, Issa leaked partial transcripts from interviews conducted by his office which appeared to be incriminating but actually turned out to be nothing. He leaked intentionally-misleading evidence to a media that was desperate for a real scandal to sink their teeth into.

Issa trolled so hard for a real scandal and all he has to show for it are a couple reports from other House Committees that tell us Issa is the one who is really "full of crap."
