Scalia says all this stuff while sitting next to Mr. “I got into Yale through affirmative action” Clarence Thomas, which either is the epitome of irony or Scalia is just proving his point with Thomas.

The Sanderistas seem to envision a world where people will suddenly change and form their opinions and cast their votes on the basis of evidence and their own interests and all.
I give you Kentucky. Obamacare is wildly popular there, unless you call it Obamacare. Then it is not. They just voted for someone who has pledged to dismantle something that has been of enormous benefit to the people of their state and enjoys something like a 75% favorable rating.
Given the kind of truly threatening issues that humanity as a whole is facing now, it matters enormously who is in power during the next decade. We are at a tipping point in terms of global warming and the climate change that that will bring about. It is not just the future of the Court that is at issue here. Like Nader, they are playing ridiculous political games with the future of humanity.
And ‘worse’ is not better than not worse. We, as a species, cannot afford to be side tracked again as we were in 2000.

In reply to Scopedog. No kidding, Scopedog. Get this, my parents generally hold conservative views now, but they always end up voting Democratic because they're single issue voters. That issue is court appointments. My parents simply believe that Democrats make good selections, and Republicans don't. For now, they have come to see it as that simple. They also really hate Scalia and Thomas in particular. My dad sometimes says his biggest regret in life was not cursing out Scalia when they were on the same train a few years ago.

Yep–and expect a GOP President to put up a Scalia-type as their preferred SC Justice. Of course, that’s if they win the Presidency next year. What’s more frustrating is to read the nonsense from uber-Sanders fans that it would be better to let the GOP win next year instead of casting their votes for the hated Hillary if she gets the nom and not their guy. After all, how bad could things get in four years and besides the GOP will f#@! things up so badly that the people will rise up and demand a progressive utopia!

Simple–we’ll get more Scalias. We’ll get a Supreme Court that will eviscerate many progressive wins. The Bush years gave us two SC Justices who helped to give us Citizens United and the paring away of parts of the Voter Rights Act. Anyone who blubbers that the SC doesn’t matter is a damned fool. I heard that nonsense spouted out in 2000, and I’m hearing it again, courtesy of Salon.

Not that it matters, but I can’t decide if Abigail Fisher is a deeply racist loon or a cat’s paw of Edward Blum.

What I do know for a certainty is that Antonin Scalia is a disgrace to the judiciary.
