Glenn Beck Wingnuts

Keeping Up With The Gohmert

The GohmertRepresentative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) has dropped his latest nugget of wisdom: Eric Holder is a terrorist sympathizer and the Muslim Brotherhood is commanding the Obama Administration.

Listen:

Responding to Glenn Beck’s question of why Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was read this Miranda rights sooner rather than later beginning at 2:40

Gohmert: I haven’t gotten a satisfactory answer. But think about it, when your attorney general spent more of his legal career helping terrorists than defending the country, then you know we all have certain biases and lean certain ways. [...]

There’s no need to rush in 16 hours later. And one other comparison — compare that to people who were at Benghazi, or who knew about what all went on at Benghazi who had been asking for private attorneys from this administration. And this administration has gone days and days and days and refused to pony up and agree to a counsel so they can talk about what happened. [...]

Keep in mind this is the same intelligence committee that last summer after Michele Bachmann and I and three others signed letters asking for investigations as to the extent of the Muslim Brotherhood influence in five different departments and set out undeniable facts in each one of those letters. [...] An Egyptian magazine says there are six members of the Muslim Brotherhood who are active and playing a vital role in this administration and said out their names. How is it that our intelligence isn’t as intelligent as an Egyptian magazine?

Beck: I don’t believe that and I don’t think you do either. Maybe you do. I think they know. I think they have chosen to believe that the Muslim Brotherhood are the good guys. [...]

Gohmert: The [White House] knows who’s in there advising them. [...] Either they lie under oath or they don’t know the extent of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration into our government.

Why is an Egyptian magazine aware of our “undeniable facts” but the intelligence committee isn’t? An intelligence committee that has been graced by the presence of Michele Bachmann. A congresswoman who can count Frank Gaffney among her closest advisers.

Would Gohmert and Company feel as inclined to blow the secret-Muslim dogwhistle if not for the fact that both the president and the attorney general are black? I don’t believe so. I’m not necessarily implying that Louie Gohmert is racist (although it certainly wouldn’t shock me to learn that he is) but it does seem that the racial makeup of the highest levels of administration is very convenient if you’re someone who wants to lean on xenophobia to make a case against it.

If the administration were more singularly white, the burden to come up with facts, and I don’t mean the kind that are swirling in Gohmerts head, would be far greater. As things stand facts are interchangeable with winks and nods for the audience of Glenn Beck.
