My First Football Post

The hiring of Michael Vick gives me a substantive, real-life reason to root against the Eagles this season.

Yes, he did his time. But the Eagles have hired someone who tortured and murdered dogs for money. That concept will circulate through my head every time I hear about the team.

Go Skins.

UPDATE: Via my brother, this article covers Jeffrey Lurie's anguish over the decision. I understand how Vick could be positive for the community and I admire Lurie's ability to forgive, but I just can't get beyond the horrors involved in Vick's crime. This isn't about drugs or doping or even gambling (see Pete Rose who is still banned from baseball), this is about the systematic and repeated torture, murder and brutalization of innocent animals for sport and money -- a crime in which he'd likely still be engaged were he not apprehended.
