New FBI HQ Might Be Built by Trump Cronies

The Washington Post reports that the top two bidders for building a new headquarters for the FBI are close to despot-elect Donald Trump and one of them is even an adviser to Trump.

One, Steven Roth, served as an economic adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign and co-owns a building with him in Manhattan. Another, Larry Silverstein, has been referred to by Trump as a “friend of mine.”

Roth and Silverstein have both known Trump for more than 30 years. They have been rivals on some projects and cheerleaders on others.

A new headquarters has been under consideration for many years, but a builder hasn't been chosen yet.

Will Team Trump try to tip the choice in favor of a specific friend or associate or possibly even his adviser Steven Roth? I see no reason to believe they wouldn't try to influence the decision.

The Post also points out that FBI director James Comey has lobbied for a new headquarters and, as you know, Comey is at least partially responsible for delivering the White House to Trump.

Congressional Republicans have objected in the past to spending over a billion dollars on a new headquarters, but with a Republican in the White House there will be few limits if any on what they're willing to spend.

FBI agents will now be legally obligated to wear Trump ties, drink only Trump water while on duty, have Trump steaks for their lunch hour and of course the new FBI building will be constructed out steel from GHINA!!!…because as we know, Trump is an economic populist. Just ask Chris Mathews. Or the guy who wrote that hillbilly book.

The guy is a con job. Start to finish. The businesses interests of his children will dictate foreign policy. And his ego. The people who support him he only views as props. I wonder if they will ever get that about him? Probably only after he has wreaked havoc on their lives. Which he will.

Somebody on Twitter just suggested calling Trump Tower and trying to convince him he was speaking to a dead dictator. Nicolae Ceausescu, Baby Doc and Pol Pot were suggested. I’m thinking maybe fictional nations.

Has Trump taken a position on the Sokovia Accords yet?

Government as an episode of The Sopranos.

I suppose this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

This was always a given if they won. People who helped will find their career secure and their wishes fulfilled in terms of anything Congress can deliver on. It was the same during the Clinton administration. People got rewarded. That place is a “swamp” alright. And it is about to get swampier. In the extreme.
