Torture

Nexus Accountability

Jamison Foser:

But when it comes to the media's seeming disinterest in finding the truth, there's an explanation sitting right there in the middle of Gregory's comments: "nobody comes out cleanly."

That includes the media.

The elite media is stocked of people - many of them liberals, or sold as such - who supported torture.

Right, but there's another dimension to this. The establishment media failed on Iraq. This failure is something they're still not over (and if they are, they shouldn't be).

Combine that with the fact that something they tend to support -- torture -- was used to create a false pretext for war only makes the media doubly guilty for their pre-war failures.

In other words, I firmly believe that a serious investigation into Bushie torture will stir up all of those media failures on Iraq, while compounding it all with torture and culminating in a trillion dollars, decades of potential blowback and 30,000 American casualties. This is very likely why they're so determined to move on.
