In other news, none of the officers involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor have been charged for her death. One officer was charged with wanton endangerment because he also blindly fired into neighboring residences.

Meanwhile, reopening college campuses likely increased by number of new coronavirus cases we see each day by over 3,000 according to a study from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Indiana University, the University of Washington and Davidson College.

Finally, California is banning the sale of new gasoline-fueled cars beginning in 2035.

Newsom signed an executive order Wednesday requiring that all new passenger vehicles sold in California by 2035 be zero-emission — a category that includes battery-powered electric cars, those that run on hydrogen fuel cells, and plug-in hybrids, which still use some gasoline or diesel in addition to electricity.

The transportation sector is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in California, accounting for more than 40% of its planet-warming gases in 2017, the most recent year for which data are available. The state estimates that mandating 100% of new passenger cars and trucks be zero-emission would reduce total greenhouse gas emissions by more than a third.

This is a very big deal because what happens in California doesn't stay there. California is the largest car market and automakers don't make one model for one state and one model for other states. What happens is the California model becomes the nationwide standard.

Under the new rules, people who still have gasoline cars wouldn't be banned from using them, they just couldn't buy a brand new one because new models are no longer sold.
