Oversight Chairman Finds Something to Investigate

Written by SK Ashby

House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) may have his hands full investigating a five-year-old dead issue in Emailghazi, but he has found time for other important business.

Chairman Chaffetz has no plans to investigate despot-elect Donald Trump's numerous ethically violations, but he will investigate the investigators.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the head of the House Oversight Committee, criticized the director of the federal Office of Government Ethics on Thursday over his criticism of Donald Trump’s plan to address conflicts of interest. And he threatened to subpoena the official, Walter Shaub, if he refuses to participate in an official interview.

Trump's "plan" to address conflicts of interest is really no plan at all. Trump will retain ownership of his properties and, as the owner, continue to receive payments from foreign governments who stay at his hotels.

Trump will be in violation of the Constitution on day one, but Chairman Chaffetz's priority is to scrutinize an independent ethics watchdog who has stated what is obvious to everyone.

Congressional Republicans are probably going to spend the next several years investigating public officials and even private citizens who criticize Dear Leader Trump.
