Senator Rand Paul unleashed a stupefying budget proposal today which, a week after the unfolding disaster in Japan began, would eliminate the agency which is responsible for regulating all things energy related, including Nuclear Energy.
Very smart.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) unveiled his five-year budget plan Friday, a radical and ambitious proposal that would -- among other things -- eliminate the U.S. Department of Energy, one of the two federal agencies charged with overseeing America's nuclear capabilities. [...]
Paul's proposal to balance the budget by 2016 would also kill the Departments of Education, Commerce, and Housing and Urban Development. It would cut military spending by 6 percent while leaving Social Security, Medicare and war funding in tact.
Eliminate the Departments of Energy, Education, Commerce, and Housing and Urban Development. Did I miss anything?
We have an emerging energy crisis in this country, 82% of our schools may be failing under current guidelines, the economy is still hurting, and there's an immense shortage of public housing across the nation. But hey, lets just get rid of all those things. We don't need them. So sayeth, Rand Paul. Libertarian boy genius.
