In other news, a currently unidentified man rammed his car into two Capitol Police officers and charged them with a knife this afternoon. One officer and the suspect were killed and the capitol was locked down.

Meanwhile, private sector employers added 916,000 jobs in March according to the Labor Department.

Finally, American and Iranian officials are heading to Austria for an initial round of talks aimed at reviving the nuclear peace deal negotiated by the Obama administration.

Tehran has ruled out face-to-face bilateral discussions, but the presence of both Iran and the United States in the Austrian capital - welcomed by Washington as a “healthy step forward” - will help to focus efforts to bring all sides back into compliance with the accord.

The aim is to reach an agreement within two months, said a senior official with the European Union, the coordinator of the deal. Iran holds elections in June.

I was not planning to be offline yesterday and technically I wasn't; there just wasn't anything relevant to this blog happening in the news yesterday. Last week and the beginning of this week were very busy, but yesterday was a big blank.
